about

Alma Archive is an online space offering a curated selection of books, objects, and artist editions meant to be treasured over time. Alma means “soul” in Portuguese, and Archive is a place where what matters is preserved.

Though primarily online, each year Alma Archive comes to you through a pop-up store in a European city, celebrating artist collaborations and allowing you to see and experience the work up close.

For the discerning mind

Alma Archive speaks to artists, readers, collectors and wanderers — and to anyone who seeks art and literature not as consumption, but as a way to enjoy quiet and meaningful moments, lingering on an image, thought or idea.

Books

Books lie at the heart of Alma Archive. Our selection spans fiction, non-fiction, and art books including limited and out-of-print editions, and signed copies.

Our books are chosen for their power to move, provoke, or transport the reader to different places and times. Some invite reflection, others confront urgent questions, while many create worlds where we may lose ourselves in — and, in turn, find ourselves anew. In a time marked by information overload, overconsumption and short-form content, we hope our books invite you to slow down, read at your own pace, and treasure each volume as both an object and a companion.

Artist Editions

Twice a year, Alma Archive collaborates with a small number of artists — emerging and established — across disciplines such as photography, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, and design.

Some collaborations arise from long-standing admiration, others from chance encounters, or unexpected conversations that spark curiosity and lead to connection. What unites them is a a deep commitment to their work and to creating as a way of engaging with the world.

Alma Archive artist editions are accompanied by In Conversation with…, a series that offers a closer look into each artist’s practice, influences and ways of working. In Read. Kept. Remembered., artists share three books that have shaped their thinking and creative life.

Objects

Alongside books and artist editions, Alma Archive offers a small selection of objects: from Alma’s own handmade limited-edition tote bags to curated finds chosen for their aesthetic and timeless qualities.

How We Curate

Every addition to Alma Archive is carefully chosen. For books, we consider not only the content but also rarity, condition, and edition history. Our artist collaborations are selected based on their artistic positioning, authenticity, sensitivity, and respect for the medium/media they work with. Objects are chosen for their craftsmanship, functionality, and timeless character. This process ensures the archive grows not based on market trends, but on meaning.

Core values

At Alma Archive, we value collaboration, diversity, and critical thought. Above all, we believe in creativity and care as thriving forces connecting across generations, cultures, and ideas.
